About

This beautiful, grand pile of marble on the grounds of Bethesda Baptist Chapel marks the resting place of a legendary preacher Christmas Evans, whose funeral has been considered one of the largest ever attended in Wales.

According to local lore, kissing the gravestone provides good luck. The grave is conveniently close to The White Swan pub, so visitors can stop for a drink after visiting the grave. These days, the chapel is home to a charity that allows access to the grounds with permission. Bethesda Chapel is situated near the town center in Swansea just off the High Street.
