About

This walking trail in Parr Park contains thousands of painted rocks to view. Visitors are also welcomed to add to the collection.

In March 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown began, Ron Olsen and his family painted a few rocks and scattered them along a favorite walking trail in Parr Park. Another family, the Penny's, spotted them and became inspired. Mr. Penny sent out a missive on Facebook asking readers to mail painted rocks to them to add to the path. The trail now contains thousands of rocks from all over the world.

The rock designs include animals, messages, characters, carvings, games, Day of the Dead depictions, and abstract art. The trail winds around several curving paths.

Know Before You Go

Park in the parking lot of the Church of the Cross, in the back near the playground, 3000 William D Tate Ave, Grapevine. Take the path behind the playground; at the first chance, turn right. The trail is about 1/4 mile on the left.

Bring insect repellent. Free to visit. The only request is to not take the rocks home, but to leave them undisturbed for others to view.
