Deep in the eastern Icelandic countryside resides a canyon of unique beauty. The color of the water is a rare mixture of blue, green, and grey; a cascade of colors rarely seen elsewhere on Earth. The canyon also includes hundreds of basalt columns.
This place is magical, and definitely one of mother nature’s secrets left for us to discover.
Know Before You Go
Access the top of the canyon easily achieved by parking alongside the river, but if you want to go down into the canyon, you have to go back a few kilometers, cross the river on a small bridge and park there. Then walk along the path and cross a waterfall into some fields before you arrive down into the canyon.
