In the main shopping mall in Telford, conveniently known as the Telford Centre, visitors will find one of the most amazing and entertaining clocks in Overdale. A clock that is loved by both children and adults.

The Frog Clock, as it has come to be known, extends the full width of the mall. It was installed in 1996 and apart from periodic maintenance, has been a permanent feature of the mall. It also presents a magnificent display every half hour.

When the time is right, the wheeled chariot to the right moves to the left with the swinging of a pendulum, as a jolly tune plays from the clock. At the same time, the mouth of the frog turns outward and releases a stream of detergent bubbles, a favorite among young mallgoers.

This clock is a delight to watch and is well worth a visit to the mall. The clock is said to be the largest public clock in the United Kingdom and was designed by Christopher “Kit” Williams, an English artist, illustrator, and author. The clock is around 52 feet (16 meters) long and weighs more than four tons.

A similar clock by the same sculptor was installed at Milton Keynes Shopping Center, Bedfordshire in 2002.
