About

Much like the cult-like red phone boxes of the United Kingdom, Sweden is full of green Rikstelefon phoneboxes. Also, like the British phoneboxes, these have largely fallen out of use.

Due to their aesthetics most of them are still found all around the country, but with their phones stripped out. They are popular photo spots and sometimes offer a short moment of privacy along an otherwise busy street.

However, the residents of Sigtuna had a rather unique idea for their empty phonebox. They turned the box into a tiny library filled with donated books. Much like pop-up mini-libraries that have become fairly popular, this library depends completely on the support of the local community. You can take as many books as you want and leave any that you no longer need.

Most books inside are written in Swedish, but some are in English and other languages. This shows it's not just locals who enjoy this unique library.
