World's largest aloe statue
Albertinia, South Africa
A larger than life representation of the humble aloe plant
Aloe vera is a broadly used plant in cosmetics, medicine, food, and much more. This coupled with the fact that it is a easy to grow succulent makes it the ideal product to farm in warm places. However, while there are many aloe farms, there is only one aloe statue of this size.
The statue was unveiled in 2010 on the parking place of Aloe world and sculpted by Dirk van Wyk and Froncois de Wet. It’s 9 meters tall and weighs over 2500 kg, around it grow normal sized aloe plants which are dwarfed by the statue.
