Morlin
Diego Morlin was born in Nove in 1962.
Raised in an artistically rich environment - his father Severino Morlin being a famous artist, painter and ceramist - he attended the Nove Ceramic Arts School obtaining a diploma in 1981.
He enrolled in the Venice Faculty of Architecture and took part and collaborated in several cultural projects, among them we remember:
- Bassano 1877-1954, an ehibition of images by/for a town, with "Laboratorio di ricerca n.8" (1983)
- Marosticaverde (1988)
- Materia exhibition with "i 5" group (1992)
Morlin graduated in 1988 with a thesis on "Computer aided design: a design for the enlargement of the Bassano civic museum".
In 1989 he publisher Atelier produced his "Relief of the Old bridge at Bassano del Grappa, a work by Andrea Palladio".
He has worked as an indipendent architect since 1990, mainly concerned with building design, town planning, landscape and design.
Morlin thinks the architects have to face the projecting problems not only from the architectural and technical point of view, but as a craftsman: thinking about little things, where solutions arrive thanks to continuous and detailed adjustments.
He thinks the architect is very similar to the sculptor, who has to make sketches, mock-ups, contact-papers, drafts and plastic models in order to arrive tothe final result, so that every detail is ancillary to the others, and with them it is in harmony and balance.
Morlin is intensively engaged in personal research into the problems of alternative sources of energy, without neglecting traditional symbolic architecture, which covers a vast range from private dwellings to big stores, hotels, banks, parks and gardens.
During summer 2005 he launches The Park of Sojo, a sculpture park freely visitable, where many international artists' artworks are placed.
