WHALEN
Bryan Whalen is a writer of fiction, creative non-fiction, screenplays, journalism, essays, poetry, and postcards. His work has appeared in several online and print publications, including The Big Issue, Voiceworks, Wet Ink, and The Lifted Brow; and his first novel, The Cotton Is High, is currently being written as part of a PhD dissertation funded by the University of Adelaide. His first screenplay, a short-film entitled Genius, is under production with TJ Mauck Films and is due to be released in early 2014. In 2009, Whalen created and edited SmallRoom: a one-off posterzine that featured Australian art and microfiction on a large fold-out poster. He also organized A Bridge For Short Attention Spans: 30 writers read in 30 minutes, which featured thirty Australian and international artists reading original one-minute microfictions. Raised in Ventura County, California, he currently lives in The Hague.
