About
A short distance from the Johnson Creek Hike & Bike trailhead is a restored stone windmill marking the homestead of Wylie and Effie Bennett. Their names are inscribed above the door of the windmill, however, not much else is known about the couple.
Visitors can venture inside and marvel at the limestone construction and scaffolding of the windmill. There is also a stone slab nearby where hikers can rest. For those who appreciate old stonework, there is a retaining wall near the creek. The wall and windmill may have been constructed around the same time.

The Johnson Creek trail starts at the corner of Enfield Road and the Mopac Expressway. The windmill is about 100 yards down the trail. If you continue walking, the trail will link up with the Hike and Bike Trail at the Colorado River near Austin High School. It's a very nice walk.
