40 years living on Douglas Island, Alaska; 20 years guiding hikers through the Alps of France, Italy and Switzerland; 3 winters guiding x-c skiers through the Yellowstone; 5 months cycling the highest passes of the Pyrenees and French Alps; 35 years kayaking the fjordlands of SE Alaska; vagabondage through the Atlas and Rif in North Africa, Norwegian Lapland, the Andes of Ecuador and dozens of ranges in the American West's Cascades and Rocky Mountains. So far, so good.
