Monika Schmitter

I teach Italian Renaissance and Baroque art at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I have published widely on Italian Renaissance art with a focus on how art was collected and displayed, especially in domestic settings. This is the emphasis of my recent book "The Art Collector in Italy Modern Italy: Andrea Odoni and his Venetian Palace" (Cambridge University Press, 2021). One of the great pleasures of my work is that I am always seeking out new works of art and traveling off the beaten path, especially in Italy.
